How To Get Your New US Passport For FREE!
If you are among the large amount of Americans that still need to get a new passport, here is a way you can get it for FREE! Many resorts and hotels in the Caribbean, Mexico and Canada are offering to reimburse US tourists who need to buy a [tag-ice]new passport[/tag-ice] to travel. The promotions are designed as follows.
You book your reservations to the specific country, purchase your passport as required by the new passport rules and stay to minimum number of nights at the destination. Komotv news has a very interesting article that points out several specific resorts and hotels that will pick up the tab for your new passport between now and April.
Marriott or Renaissance resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico, W hotels in Mexico City and Montreal, and several Mexico Palace resorts all offer attractive vouchers and discount which equal the cost of your new passport.
Since the new passport rules require that you get a [tag-tec]new passport[/tag-tec] to travel to these destinations anyway, why not benefit from these promotions and get your new passport for FREE?

That is a really good offer! I can forsee lots of people using it as an excuse to take a trip. Hopefully the travel companies can honour everyone who takes it up. How much do passports cost in the USA? In the UK, it cost me close to the equivalent of $140 to get a passport on 2 week delivery, the cost was about $100 for normal. That was a year ago - I gather that our passport prices will be set to rise even more later this year. For an essential document, they sure like to gouge people

I think it's a great idea if it's free return on purchasing a passport. If they can do in one destination why not in another it sure would make travelling more appealing to those first time purchasers of a passport. I wonder if you get a choice of what you'd like vouchers for.? e.g.discount sightseeing, food.

This would not at all be what I would expect. I would not trust my passport to a foriegn country even if I was happy with the hotel willing to help out. Your information is already more vulnerable anyhow so giving more of your person information to people you do not know is even more of a risk that what you think. I would think twice before I ever considered something such as this because you will not be able to control where the information goes once you release it.

I very much doubt they organise the passport for you - it sounds like they just reimburse you, so you show your passport, they can see that the date it became valid was recent, and they give you the money back. If I'm right that it works like that, then you aren't giving them any extra information, since you would likely have to prove your identity by flashing your passport at the hotel anyway. Identity theft is a big concern, but a hotel in Canada isn't at the top of my list of ID criminals.

That is a great deal! Passports can be such an unexpected expense when one goes to travel so it is nice that some hotels will pay for your passport if you will travel and stay at their place. It is basically getting about 200 dollars for free!

I'd have my doubts about getting a passport at those places but it does save quite a bit on the expense as passports do cost quite a bit of cash. I'd keep mine handy at all times though, not all of them offer this deal. Its pretty smart for them as it probably does not cost them as much to get you one and you will probably spend more than $200 anyways during the vacation.
