Travel Tips For Business Travelers
Make Use of Your Carry On
Sometimes, baggage goes missing – that is an unfortunate fact of travel. This is distressing enough on a family holiday, but on a business trip it can be disastrous. So, wherever possible, pack as much as you can into your carry on luggage. Having everything to hand means that should your checked luggage get delayed you will still be able to meet with clients and get your work done while you wait for less essential stuff to get chased up by the airlines.
Travel Light and Pack Wisely
When you do pack the luggage that you won’t be bringing, one of the business travel tips based off common sense is to make sure to pack only what you need. In order to accomplish this, make do with a pair of casual shoes and a pair of business shoes only, and be sure to only bring enough work clothes to last you through the trip. This will leave room for toiletries, any other extra business materials you’ll need, and so on. To make further space and allow you to pack a smaller bag, roll your clothing into tight cylinders. This will allow you to pack things tightly and will help you to avoid wrinkles.
Dark Clothing Hides Many Problems
Dark clothing is very useful for traveling business people – it hides stains and dirt well, so if you get sweaty or spill a coffee on the flight it won't be too noticeable. You should be able to hop off the plane, quickly comb your hair, and make use of hygiene wipes to freshen up (another popular travelers trick) and then meet a client right away.
Remember before you leave to charge up your mobile phone and other electronic devices, and look in to getting some form of mobile / wireless internet access package so that you can work on the move. If you make effective use of your day time 'downtime' while you are traveling, then you may be able to spend your evenings exploring the areas once when you arrive at your business trip destination. Business trips don't have to be all work. There can and should be time for rest and relaxation too!

Depending on the type and length of your business trip look into the possibility of bringing a friend or significant other. Yes they will be on their own during you seminars and lectures but it will make your mandatory dinners as well as your down time much more enjoybale. Besides your SO won't always feel completely left out of that part of your life. I know one of the major companies I worked for actually encouraged bringing spouses and girlfriends/boyfriends. Their reasoning - you will be happier by having them with you and a happy employee makes for a more productive employee.

Beth - interesting comment - I wish I worked for companies like that - I'm self employed now, but when I was traveling for business on other peoples expenses, they wouldn't allow me to bring my partner. Nice to hear there's some enlightened companies out there. Oh - tip from personal experience - make sure any devices you take are fully charged - airline security seems to get rather irritable if you can't power on your phone to prove it works. Last time I took a flat one, the reasoning 'I will charge it when I get to the hotel - see… this is the charger' really didn't wash with them, and we had to stand there ages while they faffed on opening the thing up.

I never liked traveling for business. I would always get stuck in some low class money saving hotel. They would often be dirty and not very guest friendly. The trips were never comfortable and it got to the point where I hated them.

I found these tips very helpful, one tip that I always use is take a small water spray to spritz your face, it´s amazing how dehydrating it can be flying, also a moisturiser as some of the refresher wipes can sting sensitive faces. Another tip is to drink plenty of water especially on a long business trip.
