Some Unique Ways To Identify Your Luggage

One concern many people have when traveling is how they will find their luggage once they get to their destination.  If you have to check your luggage in, or have it stowed in the hold while you travel, then finding it amongst the pile of similar looking bags or cases can be quite difficult, and many people fear walking off with the wrong luggage – or having someone take their case by mistake.  You need to find ways to identify your luggage.

For this reason, adding a unique, obvious marking to your luggage can give you a lot of peace of mind.  Its one of the easiest ways to identify your luggage.  If your case stands out as different, other people will not mistake it for their own, and you will be able to pick your case out from all the others quickly and easily.  Of course, you can't make it arrive safely, that depends on the company you are traveling with, but at least you've done all you can to make things easier at your end.

Are Luggage Tags Enough?

At one point, luggage tags were all most people needed to make sure they picked up the right bag as it spun around the baggage carousel in the airport, but as more people were boarding planes, there were many more pieces of luggage that looked familiar. Besides, finding unique ways to identify your luggage reduces the need to look at every baggage tag that made the trip on the carousel.

Some people have tried colored ribbon on the handle of their bags, the problem with this, however, is that if other people have the same idea you could end up looking through a sea of colored ribbon.  A more  unique way to identify your luggage is usually a good idea.

Avoid Things That Can Catch On Conveyor Belts

Remember that most transport companies use conveyor belts to move luggage around.  For this reason, you should avoid anything that can catch on the conveyor belt – it could get snagged and ripped off, or worse it could stop the conveyor belt from working, delaying everyones' luggage.  Even something like ribbons on the handle could get loosened or pulled off by accident while the baggage is being moved around.

One simple way to make your luggage easily identifiable is to write your initials on your luggage in large letters, using a bright fluorescent pen.  This is certainly one of the uniques  ways to identify your luggage.  Make sure that the ink will not run or rub off on other passenger's bags – you could accidentally ruin someones expensive, stylish suit case.

Another way to identify your luggage is photo luggage tags – some airlines run special offers where you can order luggage tags that are larger than normal, but still 'conveyor belt safe' – they are made of a durable, thin plastic, and you can get any design or photo you want printed on them – making them easy to identify.
